The Fountain Square Theatre offers a charming historic setting for your special event. Columned arches surround an expansive dance floor at the foot of a large stage with a balcony overlooking the main level of the Theatre. A unique venue to host your wedding ceremony and reception, corporate function, concert or dance.

Friday Night Swing Dance is hosted in the Theatre the second & fourth Friday of each month, January – October, the second Friday in November and the third Friday in December (Check the event calendar for exact dates and band listings). All ages are welcome for a swingin’ good time with a one hour basic Swing Dance lesson with Naptown Stomp from 7:30p.m. – 8:30p.m. then entertainment with local and regional Swing Dance bands from 8:30p.m. – 11:30p.m. Admission is $14 for Lesson & Dance or $12 for Dance only.

Theatre Restoration

Originally opened in 1928 as a 1500 seat motion picture and vaudeville Theatre with a 40 foot domed ceiling with twinkling stars, the Theatre enjoyed many years as a premire entertainment venue. After extensive renovations beginning in 1994, the Fountain Square Theatre is once again transformed into a starlit courtyard. The Mezzanine level retains much of it’s original architectural details including a painstaking restoration of painted ceiling motifs.

Take a Tour

Parking is FREE in Fountain Square. Public Parking Lots are available at the corner of Shelby and Morris Street behind the Forte building, as well as a smaller public lot on Woodlawn Avenue, between Virginia Avenue and Shelby Street.

All on street parking is free, with a two hour restriction Monday - Friday from 9am - 6pm.

The Goodwill Store, located two blocks South offers free parking for our guests on the North side of their parking lot. The East side of the parking lot is available for parking after 7pm every evening.

Do not park in the Family Dollar lot on the north side of their building—They will tow vehicles!
